TOWER OF LONDON

Tower of London has another name which is Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress and it’s situated in the centre of London.
It was built in the middle of the 11th century by William The Conqueror and it was used as a prison. Nowadays is the home of the Crown Jewels of the United kingdom.
Even Queen Elizabeth I was held there as prisoner and for this reason there is a popular expression “send someone to the tower” which means “send to prison”.
In the 20th century it was restored to have its old medieval appearance and in the First and Second World Wars it became a prison again.
Nowadays it is one of the most popular buildings in London and it’s a very interesting place for tourists.
Finally, the Tower of London was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988 as it is a very important building in British and European history.

TOWER BRIDGE

Tower Bridge is situated over the River Thames near the Tower of London and for this reason it has this name.
The bridge, which is considerated an iconic symbol, has two towers. However, this wasn’t the original design, because there were a lot of projects to make it and Horace Jone’s project was the winner.
The bridge was opened at the end of the 19th century by King Eduard VII.
It’s a main point to visit for tourists and it’s crossed by 40.000  people every day.
It has appeared in many films like Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes and it was chosen by the BBC to make a series about Britain‘s Buildings.
We think that a special moment to visit the tower is at night because it’s so illuminated that you can see the reflection in the Thames, so you will have one of the most beautiful sights you have ever seen.

Why did you decide to become a teacher?

Llengua anglesa: Aspectes Formals i Comunicatius

Presentació oral:
Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I decided to become a teacher for several reasons but first I want to explain why I decided so late to study Infant Education.

When I was 18 years old I began to study Law because at that time I thought it was the best thing for me (I could be able to find more jobs), but later, when I finished the degree, for different reasons, I understood that I didn’t want to be a lawyer.

Since that moment I have been thinking of studying another degree (or course) and I chose this one because  since I was young I have always wanted to be a teacher and study and learn with children.

Apart from that, I think children are very intelligent and the future of society and this is the reason why I want to be in a classroom with children: I want to try learning with them and I want them to enjoy my explanations and my support because when I was young, teachers were like your worst enemy and I want to change this: I want to be the teacher, the friend, the person who children can have beside them when they need me.
